I’ve been with Rio for over eight months now—has it been that long?—having left family, friends, and this lug back in Utah:
This is Murphy, a 180-pound English Bullmastiff who lives with my folks. And I’ll admit it: moving to a brand new city where I don’t know anyone was more than a little nerve-wracking.
Warm as my welcome to Rio (and Albuquerque) were—thanks, fellow associates!—it was more than a little lonely. I was living out of suitcases in a motel, eating too much fast food, and transitioning into my new place in the Land of Enchantment.
Two weeks in, a coworker left a post on our company bulletin board that this little guy was available for adoption:
His name was Casper, but seeing as how he wasn’t a friendly ghost or a city in Wyoming, I changed it to Hitch (short for “Hitchens”) in honor of a favorite writer. We get along swimmingly:
I soon learned that my fellow Rio associates are almost all big animal people. We’ve got dogs, cats, birds, and even mini-horses! We thought it would be fun to do a quick spotlight on some of our favorite pals AND invite our readers to shamelessly share pictures of their own critters, for a chance to win a super-cool pet nametag. Read the details below!
But first, Here are some of the less photo-shy around here:
Finally, we’d like to give a special spotlight to Gabby, Kathy’s gorgeous pup, who passed away a few weeks ago after a long, happy life.
AND HERE’S THE GIVEAWAY:
I want to make YOUR pet a nametag! All you have to do is leave a picture of your dog, cat, bird, hamster, wombat, chinchilla, narwhal, or any other creature, along with their name and your email address. The first ten pictures we get will receive a hand-stamped metal nametag for your pet PLUS we’ll choose five more random winners after that — so keep on entering!
Only one nametag per person, so if you’ve got several beasts roaming the house or yard, pick the one in most dire need of name recognition and we’ll get on it!
