Visiting my family for the holidays one year, I remember noticing something different about the carefully wrapped packages under the tree. It was apparent that extra thought and time had been taken to make these gifts beautiful. What I find interesting about this memory is that I don’t even remember what I got for Christmas that year. What I do remember is the intricate details of cleverly paired ribbons and bows that complemented their wrappings so festively. I felt like my family really cared.
Even if one of your customers is buying a necklace for herself, it is a reward––and in essence––a gift. The time and care you take to present something you are proud of will also make the recipient proud.
Ribbon is an easy way to add that extra touch to your final sales.
I spoke with our display and packaging supply manager, Patti Pembridge, and she was excited to say that customer demand for ribbon has risen over the last few months.
“Many of our customers are requesting specific types of ribbon,” says Patti. “One way that you can be unique with your packaging is by layering a solid ribbon behind a sheer organza ribbon. It’s a great way to add layers of depth and color to your packages.”
She showed me a moss green satin ribbon behind a moss white-polka-dotted organza ribbon—and it looked impressive. Then she took the same sheer ribbon and layered it against a white opalescent edged ribbon. It was dazzling.
Patti encourages jewelers to play, to mix, match, and layer until they find what works.
Ribbon is a simple and easy way to show your customers you care about the details without a huge time investment. We know you’re busy and sometimes (especially these days) simply don’t have time to make bows after you’ve stayed up all night working on a custom design. For those of you who are pressed for time but love the playful yet skillful look that bows add to a package, check out these pull-bows.
