Last year, in our hometown of Albuquerque, Rio Grande held the first Rio In Motion event in January, right before the annual Tucson Gem & Mineral Show. As the new year looms, we’re busy planning another spectacular week filled with jewelry-making classes, expert instructors, demos of the latest equipment innovations and guided tours of our state-of-the-art facility
Registration for Rio In Motion has been open for several weeks, but there are still a few great classes you can register for:
In this one-day class, you’ll explore a variety of texturing techniques to add dimension to your metal surfaces. Use a rolling mill, microfold brake, and various hammers, stamps and texturing wheels. By the end of the day you will have a collection of sample textures that can be used to create your one-of-a-kind pieces!
Explore the technology and techniques required to work with Argentium® Silver in this two-day class. Master goldsmith Ronda Coryell provides expert instruction and close-up demos. Learn to create surface textures, to granulate, and to fabricate pieces by fusion. Projects include a pair of earrings and a ring.
In this hands-on, two-day class, students will explore carving bezel and partial-bezel settings for cabochons. Master carver Kate Wolf will teach them lots of time-saving tips and tricks that will help in all aspects of jewelry-making. A favorite of students for many years, Kate’s classes never disappoint!
And if that isn’t enough to push you over the edge, this year we’ll be introducing the Rio Grande Outlet Sale. Browse a great selection of well-loved, gently-used or returned tools and equipment at discount prices. So what are you waiting for?
