I'm a wordsmith from way back (starting with one of those crayons that's fatter than your thumb). Match that up with a passion for the varied and creative applications for machinery of any description, and you have an endless stream of fun and fascinating pieces on how makers of jewelry put their skills to dramatic use.
What's amazing to me is how such a dirty, dangerous (sometimes toxic) collection of equipment, tools, processes, techniques, and chemicals—in the hands of a pro—turns out pieces of such incredible beauty and style. Pieces that are literally wearable art!
In my dozen years (and counting) here at Rio, I’m loving the many opportunities to keep learning more about what these artists do, the tools they use, and the processes they work endlessly to perfect. And, thanks to my very modern crayon, to share some of their expertise with you!
