If you could create your own holiday, what would it be? Mine would be fourfold: What if we ushered in every season as we do the New Year? We could call it New Season Day. The New Year is great for lofty resolutions. What if we made proposals specific to the season? For instance, my winter proposals would have been:
- Don’t get sick.
- Cook more.
- Take more vitamin D.
- Write more.
Last weekend, my daughter had an unusual homework assignment: Go outside and search for signs of spring. She and I took a simple walk around the block, and she managed to list about 20 different signs of spring, most of which may have gone unnoticed if we weren’t on a critical mission. This activity was an eye opener (literally and figuratively) for us.
The lesson I took away from her assignment was to get away from the Internet, the indoors, the television, and just to be. Be observant. Be whimsical. And just be in the moment. Spring is a time to explore, shop, walk, renew, and reflect.
So let’s spring into the new season—for today is the first day of spring!
A great way to step into spring is with fresh outdoor-inspired packaging.
My favorite totes and tissue are the fun “Botanica,” “Shopping” and “Zinnia” collection totes, tissue, and merchandise bags.
This Spring Breeze packaging tip is inspired by the signs of spring e.g., new grass, sky, and shade.
Fresh and friendly patterns are flaunted on earth-friendly plastic. These biodegradable merchandise bags are lightweight, colorful, and are made with oxo-biodegradable plastic.
What I like even more about these spring-inspired totes is that they coordinate perfectly with this season’s 2014 Pantone color report.
So get outside. Get some sun. Plant a tree. Take your bench outside and make more jewelry! We would like to challenge you to dream up a few or several ambitious proposals for this spring season. What would you like to accomplish? What inspires you right now? First on my list this spring is to tone down my allergies with some local honey. What about you?
