Working in sales at Rio Grande, I have the pleasure of chatting with some of the most creative and innovative people in our industry. I love to talk to the folks at Bloombeads, a mother-daughter dynamic duo that have discovered that, working together, they can achieve their dreams in an industry they love.
Carli Dixon wasn’t thinking about jewelry twenty years ago while struggling to come up with an idea for her Small Business Development Class. She was thinking about enthusiasm and wanted her freshman project to be something she actually cared about.
Carli’s mother, Nanci Hames wasn’t thinking about jewelry while suffocating in a dead-end corporate job. She was thinking about passion for life and wanted to feel passionate about her career.
Together, Carli and Nanci decided to make a change to pursue enthusiasm and passion. They adopted the motto “The business of life is not business, but living,” and began to explore a business idea rooted in flower preservation. This was the birth of Freezeframe. Since then, they have grown their business into one of the nation’s premier floral preservation companies with a full-time staff of dedicated people who share their desire to be passionate about everything they do.
Freezeframe creates stunning works of art using flowers from any event. They have even produced amazing pieces from flowers over ten years old!
Through extensive research and development, Carli and Nanci developed a unique, multiple-step process that preserves flowers and foliage that are more lifelike in color and form than can be achieved with any other process. Each and every flower petal, leaf, and stem is sustained through an unparalleled process of hydration, dehydration, and conservation, sustaining their natural look and colors for a lifetime.
Freezeframe’s attention to detail and personal requests have made them an indispensable partner to brides, wedding planners, mourners and others who want to safeguard their floral investment against the passing of time.
In 2008, Carli and Nanci’s passionate flower petal path led them to apply their exclusive preservation talents to jewelry. Bloombeads, their exclusive jewelry line made from clients’ actual flowers was born. The line has grown to include bracelets, pendants, necklaces, earrings, rosaries, rings, cuff links and other men’s accessories, and even Pandora-style charm beads. Bloombeads surpasses the practice of rolling boiled rose petals into round beads perfected by the ancients thousands of years ago. Customers’ flowers are carefully crafted into wearable works of art that, like Freezeframe displays, capture their original colors and brilliance.
Bloombeads products and Freezeframe displays are available in all price ranges. They also offer a bridal registry service. World-class customer service and E-Z Ship Kits make superior flower preservation a breeze.
When I last spoke with Carli, she said that jewelry accounts for 40% of their sales and is a growing segment of the business. Although jewelry trends come and go, life goes on. Pivotal moments like weddings, funerals, and other celebrations of life will continue to pepper our days with memorable incidents. Now, the flowers from those celebrations can stand the ravages of time and live on with our memories.
