Ashli Brooke Taylor created her Baroque-inspired Copper Pendant using the Bonny Doon hydraulic press. This innovative and powerful tool allowed her to direct all hydraulic energy on the design rather than expending her own physical energy on forming the metal with a hammer. After you see Ashli’s beautiful results, you’ll be asking yourself what YOU can do with a Bonny Doon!
On Saturday, November 23, the 2013 Montezuma Ball will hold an auction to benefit several worthy New Mexico non-profits . It will be an evening with a gorgeous, historically rich theme, The Year of Turquoise. The name and the cause lured Molly Bell, a Rio Grande director and daughter of founder Saul Bell, to dig into an old family treasure and elicit the talents of exquisite local jewelry artist, Shane R. Hendren.
On a recent vacation to Monhegan Island, Maine, Molly Therese Bell visited the studio of talented jeweler Susan McDonough. Susan shared her beautiful handmade chains, her tourmaline pendants and rings, and her exquisite 22k granulation work. She told stories about her enchanted island home, and shared her exciting plans to adventure beyond Monhegan to expand her jewelry-making skills.

Today on The Studio, I chatted with Christine about how she loves finding inspiration in materials that are completely lacking in value to others. She says, “I think my work reminds folks to think a bit more deeply about the ‘stuff’ around them.”
