This year we are happy to be celebrating the 25th anniversary of The Santa Fe Symposium! The event kicked off Sunday morning with over 160 attendees eagerly awaiting presentations covering topics from jewelry technology and design inspiration to hard-core metallurgy.
What is The Santa Fe Symposium? The symposium, which is the brainchild of Eddie Bell and Dave Schneller, celebrates cutting-edge technological innovations in the jewelry industry. One of the best things that the Symposium offers is the opportunity to network with others in the industry who share the same passion for jewelry and manufacturing technology. Many folks here have been attending for several years, making this not only a gathering place of like-minds, but also a place to catch up with old friends, make new ones, and have fun while learning.
The enthusiasm in the air is infectious.
Designer Chris Ploof, three-time presenter at the Symposium, describes it as, “THE best event in the jewelry industry.” The Symposium is the event that he most looks forward to every year. One of the most exciting things for him is the range of participation and open exchange of information among some of the worlds leading jewelry manufacturers.
Presenter of two papers and seventeen-year attendee, Linus Drogs, president of AU Enterprises, shares Chris’ enthusiasm. When I asked Linus about the Symposium, he said, “This is the largest, most open exchange of technical information in the world. The Symposium promotes and elevates the jewelry industry!”
This year The Santa Fe Symposium is happening from May 15–18, but the preparation is a year-long labor of love. In his opening remarks Sunday morning, Eddie Bell commended the support staff for the incredible job they do to coordinate the event. From running the sound system and computers to arranging the schedules, lunches, and after hours events, the Santa Fe Symposium staff does an awesome job.
Thank you to Eddie, the Symposium staff, and all of the incredible presenters for making this event possible. And most importantly, thanks to everyone who attended for supporting such a wonderful event. It’s been a fantastic quarter-century!
Here’s to another 25 years of The Santa Fe Symposium!
