What inspires you these days? What materials are you dying to work with? Each month we love to take a look into your studios, see images of your works-in-progress, and hear about the evolution of your work. Each month we also feature the work of a random winner — who, in addition to getting a moment in the spotlight, wins a $10 Rio credit!
We saw some wonderful stuff this month, including an interpretation of a Chinese flower that blooms in winter, a flaming skull silver cuff, and a lovely labradorite filigree pendant. Check out the comments to see for yourself!
This month’s winner is Erin Brown who is new to metalsmithing and enameling and documented her creation of a striking bezel-set, enameled pendant. Take a look:
I have been working for a while on this piece. It is very heavy and includes a lot of silver. I am really happy with the way it turned out. Mostly because it is very close to the drawing I came up with months ago. This piece was a challenge for me, from the cloisonne shapes that I don’t usually use to the bezel setting which I’m still practicing. I feel this piece shows my current level of metalsmithing skill, which I am always improving.
Congratulations Erin! To see more of Erin’s work, check out her blog, Erin Brown Designs Jewelry.
Now it’s your turn to show us what you’re working on. Add a comment to this post with photos of something that’s on your bench right now. This next part is REALLY important, so take notes!
We need the following information in order for your entry to be considered:
- Your full name (and a link to your website/Etsy store, if you like)
- A photo of your chosen project. Include a few photos if you like!
- A description of the project you’re featuring. If you can include a little about your approach or technique, even better! Your fellow jewelers LOVE to read this stuff and so do we.
- After you add your comment, be sure to check back and make sure your photo has uploaded as it should. We don’t want to miss your pic!
Enter and you might be spending an extra 10 bucks at Rio Grande this time next month. We’ll announce our next winner in late October! Andy, over at Rio’s facebook page will keep you posted on the deadline, so stay tuned!
