Where do your fashion trends come from? Often they arise from the styles you observe around you. You’ll notice that others’ inspiration often comes from “recycling” the past. For example, you might see something from 30 years ago, on the racks in clothing stores, and you’ll notice that you are warming up to the very styles you said you’d never wear again. But here they are! They are modified, so they’re cool in an old way turned new.
You might pull inspiration from magazines, movies, or what your own kids are choosing to wear. It might be the way the gas station cashier is wearing his hair, or the belt that your dentist is wearing that she just purchased in Haiti. It might be the colors of the fall leaves as you take a hike, or the tones of the sky as winter moves in. I’ve personally been influenced by monolithic steel mills, delicate white lace doilies, hearty oak board floors, and the sculptural rhododendrons of my home town. Funny how even these disparate elements influence my jewelry.
How about you? What are the images you collect in your mind, that surface in your beautiful jewelry creations? What’s personal for you, and somehow translates to your line this season?
We’d like to invite you to our new Fashion Trends page for some inspiration this holiday season, and introduce a couple of our hottest new projects here today.
